Western Sahara strongly condemns Morocco's attempts to drag it within its internal affairs

Shaheed Al Hafed (Saharawi refugee camps) - MAP - Western Sahara government confirmed Sunday that the constitution of the Moroccan Kingdom “is an internal document that doesn't concern the Saharawi people”, considering that imposing of unilateral colonial approach is “further an escape forward and continuation for the expansionist policies that threaten security, peace and stability in the region,” said the Government in a statement reached SPS.

The statement considered that the Moroccan attempt to impose the unilateral colonial approach “does not reflect a faithful willingness of the constructive cooperation from the Moroccan government with the UN efforts to decolonization in Western Sahara based on the full respect for the UN Charter and resolutions.

"The speech of the Moroccan King addressed on June 17, 2011 was disappointing, because it did not take into account the core issue in re-establishing ways of peace, stability and democracy in the region, namely a just solution to the Western Sahara conflict," the statement stated.

The government strongly condemned attempts to confiscate the opinion of the Moroccan people through terror and intimidation, pointing out that the Moroccan king demonstrated “more intransigence and escape forward when he provocatively dragged Western Sahara cause to his speech.”
the Government recalled the Security Council and international community to exert pressure on the Moroccan Kingdom to comply with the requirements of the international legitimacy and to contribute for long-standing peace, which guarantees freedom, democracy and respect for human rights by enabling the Saharawi people to exercise their inalienable right to self-determination and independence through free, fair and transparent referendum.

It also called for release of Yahia Mohmed Hafed and all the Saharawi political prisoners, reveal the fate of more than 651 Saharawi missings and extending MINURSO's mandate in Western Sahara to include human rights protection.
