Algeria will lift state of emergency
Algeria - Arab Maghreb independent press service - The Algerian Foreign Minister, Mr. Mourad Medelci, announcement Monday “Algeria will lift its 19-years- old state of emergency within days”, according to Aljaweera.net.
"In the coming days, we will talk about it as if it was a thing of the past," Mr. Medelci told French media.
A state of emergency has been in place in Algeria since 1992 and the government has come under pressure to remove the laws following popular uprisings in Egypt and Tunisia.
The decision also comes after pro-Egypt uprising erupted in the Algerian capital.
