Regional meeting on youth employment begins in Mauritania

Nouakchott-MAP- A two-day workshop on entrepreneurship and youth employment in North Africa opened on Monday in Nouakchott.

It is being organized by the National Agency for Youth Development (ANAPEJ) in Mauritania and the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF).

The meeting comes ahead of the next summit of the African Union (AU) on youth employment in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, from 29 June to 1 July.

It is supported by several partners including the World Bank, the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the International Labour Organization (ILO).

The meeting has brought together representatives of national agencies for employment in Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Mauritania and Tunisia, as well as youth associations from Senegal, Togo, Burkina Faso, Tanzania, Morocco and Rwanda.

The workshop will address specific issues related to youth and employment in North Africa "to identify possible solutions taking into account the dimension related to capacity building".

The African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) is working to meet these multidimensional challenges in creating spaces for the development of political dialogue between various sectors within a country.
