CONASADH denounces Morocco's restrictive policies against Sahrawi activists
ahrawi Human Rights Commission (CONASADH) has denounced Moroccan authorities' policies restricting freedom of expression of Sahrawi activists for their political positions, said Sunday the Sahrawi news agency SPS.
In a statement released Sunday, the Sahrawi Commission dubbed Moroccan authorities' decision to prevent Sahrawi activist Ambarka Alina from travelling "grave violation of international law," and denounced the military siege on the occupied territories of Western Sahara and denying access of observers to the territories.
CONASADH strongly condemned the arrest of the Sahrawi former political prisoner and human right activist, Mahjub Oulad Chej, in the occupied city of Al-Ayun on 28 June, for his political positions.
The Sahrawi Commission urged the United Nations Human Rights Council to create an independent UN mechanism and expand the prerogatives of the UN Mission for Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) to human rights monitoring.
It also expressed solidarity with the Sahrawi political prisoners, who are in hunger strike in the Moroccan prison of Tizinit, and called on the Moroccan government to immediately release all Sahrawi activists and prisoners.
