Uruguayan Senate expresses support to Saharawi Republic in fight for independence
The chairman of the International Affairs Committee of Uruguay's Senate, Jorge Larranaga, has expressed his country's support to the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) in its fight for independence, and UN efforts in the search for a peaceful, just solution allowing Western Sahara people to exert their inalienable right to self-determination.
Larranaga, receiving Western Sahara's ambassador in Montevideo, Cheibani Abbass, said "Uruguay supports UN efforts for a peaceful and just solution allowing Saharawi people to enjoy their inalienable right to self-determination and independence, reports Monday Saharawi news agency, SPS said.
The meeting took place in the presence of Lic. Emiliano Gomez, chairman of the Uruguyan group for friendship with the Saharawi Arab Republic Democratic (SADR), according to the source.
The Saharawi diplomat informed the Uruguayan official about the latest developments in occupied Western Sahara, especially Morocco's violations of the ceasefire agreement in the buffer zone of Alguergarat, in the south of Western Sahara.
