Saudi Arabia - Arab Maghreb independent press service - “The ousted Tunisian president, Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali, suffers a stroke and was in a two-days coma at Saudi's hospital,” a Ben Ali family’s friend told Thursday AFP.
According to the friend, the 74-year-old former leader slipped into a coma two days ago while being treated in a Jeddah hospital after a stroke.
Tunisia's Le Quotidien newspaper had also confirmed Thursday reports that he had a stroke.
The Tunisian government spokesman, Mr. Taieb Baccouch, said “Mohamed Ghannouchi's transitional government which includes members of the opposition would discuss Ben Ali's condition during a cabinet meeting on Friday”
