Kidnappers of European hostages have political goal not financial, confirms POLISARIO Front


Molina De Segur (Spain) - Independent Maghreb Press Agency - “Behind the kidnapping of the aid workers, two Spanish and an Italian national, from the Saharawi refugee camps has political goals not financial, the kidnappers seek through it to isolate the Saharawi people and subjected them to hunger and misery,” confirmed POLISARIO Representative to Spain, Mr. Bashraya Bayun.

The Representative indicated, in an interview published Saturday by the Spanish Press Agency (EFE), that the abductors wanted to “harm the Saharawi people and give an impression that the camps are not safe, in order to prevent the visit of families and volunteers.” Mr. Basharay Bayun expressed “satisfaction and happiness” for the release of the hostages, the Spanish Ainhoa Fernández de Rincón and Enric Gonyalons and Italian Rosella Urru.

The POlISARIO Representative to Madrid appealed to the international community to cooperate for reaching a peaceful solution to the conflict of Western Sahara, calling on the Government of Spain to lead the peace process and confronts those who back the thesis of Morocco, blaming France and Rabat for blocking of the negotiations since several months.

He finally warned that in case “a peaceful solution has not been reached and the assistance allocating for basic needs of the Saharawis declined, the Saharawis will have no choice but to look for military solution.”
