President Ghali hails Algeria's unfailing support to Western Sahara cause

President of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (SADR) and Polisario Front Secretary General Brahim Ghali greeted Wednesday, in Algiers, the unfailing support of Algeria to Western Sahara cause, stressing that Saharawi people will continue to fight for an independent State.

Speaking at a ceremony during which he was named "citizen of honour" by the municipality of Central Algiers, on the eve of the opening of the cultural week for fraternity and solidarity with Saharawi people, Ghali expressed his "gratitude and acknowledgment for Algeria's unfailing support to Western Sahara people's right to self-determination, liberty and independence."

"Algeria's position, since the outbreak of the struggle (for independence) by the Polisario Front (on 20 January 1973), against Spanish occupation, has strengthened over the years."

"Algeria has always backed western Sahara people since Morocco's invasion of the Saharawi territories in 1975," he added.
