Polisario Front calls on MINURSO to intervene on Moroccan violations of ceasefire
The Polisario Front called on the United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara (MINURSO) to intervene on the “the new flagrant violation” by the Moroccan forces of the ceasefire agreement of 1991, in the zone of Alguergarat, said Tuesday the Sahrawi news agency SPS.
“The Secretary of State of Security and Documentation Brahim Mohamed Mahmoud was tasked by President of the Republic Brahim Ghali to interpellate Yussef Djedyan, head of the MINURSO office in the refugees camp, to inform him about the strong protest of the Polisario Front on the Moroccan flagrant and unprecedented violation of the ceasefire agreement signed between the Polisario Front and Morocco under the auspices of the United Nations, on 6 September 1991,” said the source.
In this regard, Brahim Mohamed Mahmoud urged the MINURSO to “assume all its responsibilities in a zone coming under its supervision awaiting the decolonization of Western Sahara and ensure the respect of all the clauses of the ceasefire agreement in force and the resolutions of the UN Security Council and to quickly undertake appropriate measures so that such acts of similar provocation don’t happen.”
He reiterated the call of the Polisario Front to UN to protect the defenceless Sahrawi civilians from the Moroccan repression against them and their property.
