Eighth Congress of General Union of Sahrawi Workers opens in Boudjedour

BOUDJEDOUR (Sahrawi refugee camps)- The works of the 8^th Congress of the General Union of Sahrawi Workers of Sakiet El-Hamra and Oued-Edhahab (UGTSARIO) have got underway Saturday in Boudjedour, in the Sahrawi refugee camps, with the participation of nearly 600 delegates representing different Sahrawi sectors and foreign trade unions.

The Congress, held under the slogan "Mobilizing the workforce to impose full sovereignty," aims at examining means to address the challenges faced by Sahrawi workers, developing the Union's strategies and plans of action for the promotion of Sahrawi workers for the coming years, identifying the obstacles to their implementation and launching initiatives to strengthen the gains, said the Union's Secretary General Mohamed Cheikh Lehabib.

The session will be also devoted to the election of the Union's new governing body for the four coming years.
