UK expresses support to Western Sahara people's self-determination

UK government has reiterated support to Saharawi People's self-determination and a just political solution to Western Sahara conflict, based on United Nations' principles and resolutions.

In reply to an MP's written question, Minister of State for International Development and Minister of State for the Middle East at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Alistair Burt reaffirmed the position of the United Kingdom government on Western Sahara issue, supporting a just and lasting solution that guarantees Western Sahara people's right to self-determination.

He stressed that the United Kingdom supports the efforts of the MINURSO (United Nations Mission for the Referendum in Western Sahara) and UN efforts to reach a lasting and mutually acceptable solution to Western Sahara issue, providing for Saharawi people's self-determination.
