British Foreign and Commonwealth Office renews its position on Western Sahara issue
The British Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office has renewed its position on the Western Sahara issue, affirming its support for efforts aimed at finding a just and lasting solution that guarantees the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination.
This came during a question by Mr. Navendu Prabhat Mishra, member of the Parliamentary Friendship Committee with the Saharawi People, to the British Minister of Foreign Affairs, Commonwealth and Development about the recent diplomatic steps taken by his ministry to help resolve the conflict in Western Sahara.
In a written reply from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, it was affirmed that the United Kingdom supports efforts to find a just, lasting and acceptable solution that includes self-determination for the people of Western Sahara.
The British Foreign and Commonwealth Office also renewed the UK's support for the efforts of the UN Secretary-General's envoy to Western Sahara, Mr. Staffan de Mistura, by engaging key partners to encourage constructive participation in the political process.
