Spanish students visit Saharawi refugee camp
Western Sahara –MAP- a total of 100 students from the Spanish university of Castilla de la Mancha have begun, more than a week ago, solidarity visit to the Saharawi refugee camp of Layune where they launched educational and cultural activities in favor of the Saharawi pupils.
The student activities is a part of annual program organized by University of Castilla de la Mancha in coordination with Saharawi Ministry of Education.
The students took part in education activities in various centers of the camp, providing lectors on languages, as well as arts.
The student coordinator, Mariavi Garcia, told MAP that the main aim of the visit is to provide lectures to the Saharawi children as well as practicing teaching techniques. "It's an cultural exchange program and we all learn together".
"We have been working on this project for 10 years and we have formed a group of coordinators to organize the activities in the schools iorder to allow the trainers to work in a different context without resources, ultimately, is to train teachers with values, "she added.
Mariavi Garcia underlined that this visit helps the Spanish students to closely see the reality of the Saharawi people struggle and to learn from them.
The coordinator expressed admiration for the management of the Sahrawi refugee camps and the hospitality of the Sahrawi people.
