African programme for children advocated

ALGIERS- Minister of National Solidarity, Family and Women’s Affairs, Mounia Meslem, on Monday in Algiers urged all the African countries to contribute to working out and launching an African programme for children, before September.

The objective of the programme recommended by Algeria is to "strengthening communication capacities on current issues concerning the African children, besides sharing the experiences among African countries on the condition of the children in our continent," the minister said, who presided over the festivities celebrating the International Day of the African Child, on June 16

Algeria’s approach on the African programme "does not tend to change the African policies for children, but rather to change the measures relating to African children to improve their situation," Meslem said in a speech in the presence of representatives of Tunisia, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Libya, Western Sahara and Niger.

Strongly participating in the 23rd Day of the African Child, the associations activating for children were hailed by the Minister for their role of a genuine link between the public authorities and the families.
